The Model  Policy Governance® Academy

   PGN Services

What kind of board needs PGN services?  Big boards. New boards. Small boards. Mature boards. Boards that want to clarify the roles between their executive and board members, improve accountability, create a vision for the future and improve their connection to their community. Boards that want to make a difference and are looking for solutions that work!

  Overview Sessions

We recommend that boards read the principles of Policy Governance® and then schedule a discussion at their next meeting to explore the possibilities.  Continue to investigate the benefits of the model.  The next step is an Overview Session which provides an orientation to the Policy Governance® Model to assist in understanding why the principles form the frame work that support all board decision-making.  A PGN consultant can lead an Overview Session to answer questions and provide examples  demonstrating the practice of boards that have made a commitment to its practice.

To arrange for a presentation that fits with your busy board schedule, contact PGN at (866)336-4875 or info@mipolicygov.org

  Full Transition Service

For organizations that have already made the decision to adopt Policy Governance®, the next step is to find the best and most effective approach to making the most efficient transition.  Organizations that successfully implement the Policy Governance® Model have done so with the assistance of a trained consultant.

There are suggested approaches to the implementation of the Model and an efficient transition from traditional governance to the practice of Policy Governance® principles.  The investment in professional training and consultation, provided by qualified graduates of the Policy Governance® Academy, is highly beneficial.  Experienced consultants accelerate the implementation process based on their "lessons learned" with other organizations. Partnering with a consultant increases your board’s probability of success and increases the speed by which your board transitions from its current governance to implementing Policy Governance® principles.  Implementing the model through well-written texts without the benefit of a consultant is like learning to play tennis without an instructor, it can be done but never as quickly and effectively!  Missed steps can often lead to undesirable results and disappointment down the road.  Our approach provides the following elements to you and your board over the transition period:

Complete Adoption and Transition Service

·         Knowledge and Understanding of the Model

·         Policy Customization in the form of Blitz Policy Writing, to fit each unique organization

·         Development of the Board as the “Ultimate Leadership Team”

·         Transition Planning, for the next 6 months

·         Strategic Vision Sessions, writing your Ends Statements

·         Implementation Support, on essential roles, meeting logistics, and ongoing technical assistance.

·         Boards who have made this investment report they could not have achieved the maximum benefits of the model without a the assistance of a PGN consultant.
